Final Changes Being Made
Hey Element fans! Just want to share where we are with the production and release of the 311 Adventure Rack. We signed a production order with the top fabrication shop in Bend. In the pictures above and below, you can see the raw steel prototype they’ve made for us. You’d think everything was done at this point, but when you switch manufacturing companies, files get corrupted, and simple misunderstandings can occur. In the end, we’re just happy a big manufacturer is willing to help us cross the finish line with our Honda Element rooftop rack for tents and overlanding!
One issue we’re tackling is the crossbars. Since our crossbars are custom made and wider than most platform racks, they look awesome. But strength is always a concern when something is long and wide. So we’ve ordered 4 versions of our crossbar designs with changes. We’ll be experimenting with a heavier grade steel, one with welded strength bars underneath, and an aluminum version. Also many of the cut-out holes from our original design (seen above) are being axed. The cut-outs look awesome, and we’ll still have some in the final version, but that many is not wise. Photos will be released of the final version before orders are taken, so you know what you’re getting.
So we're kinda going backwards for the moment, which is never good in the business world, but we want to be sure that the product we release is the best it can be.
