Frequently Asked ?’s

When will the CRV Gen. 2 “206 Adventure Rack” be available for purchase?

The 311 Adventure Rack was first released on 3/11/20. We hope to release the 206 on Feb 6th, 2023.

How much do these roof top platform racks weigh?

311 Adventure Rack is is approx. 63 lbs.

How much weight can these racks hold?

Our racks were designed to carry roof top tents at low profile. Today’s roof top tent weighs between 130-200 lbs. We’ve successfully tested this rack with approx 630 lbs stationary and 200 lbs in daily motion. Each crossbar (6) handles 100 lbs easily, so for general purpose, we say this rack holds up to 600 lbs.

What materials do you use to make these racks?

The Element and CRV rack are made with 10 and 14 gauge steel. The wind fairings are an aluminum panel mounted to analuminum crossbar. Hardware is stainless steel or zinc coated.

Are Adventure Truck racks meant for overlanding and off roading?

Yes. Our racks are designed, built, and used by true overland enthusiasts living in Bend, Oregon. Our CRV 2nd Gen 206 Adventure Rack will launch this year, connecting the overland Element crowd with the CRV crowd!!

Do certain tents require any spacers or mounting kits?

No. Our rack is designed by off-roading and overland enthusiasts, and therefore it’s a simple “bolt down” design…meaning, you set any tent on the rack and bolt it directly to the crossbars. Mounting kits and spacers may come with your tent, but are meant to accommodate more traditional racks like Thule and Yakima.

Do your racks require any upkeep?

We recommend routinely checking the rack’s hardware and tightening as needed, especially if you’ve just mounted a tent or gear with some weight to it. We also recommend monitoring the insides of the crossbars for corrosion or rust, and spraying with rustoleum in needed. Our 3M protection package will help protect your roof’s paint from rubbing against the rack’s foot pads. And we also have touch-up paint to prevent rusting when powder coat gets scratched, or when you drill extra holes for custom mounting.
